Watercolor Paintings by artist Diane Dubreuil

It was expecially an honor to be chosen for an art residency by the Musee de la Grande Vigne in Dinan, France. This area of Britanny is incredibly beautiful. I was in residence for a month and painted outside nearly every day in nearly every type of weather. I met some of the most interesting people, people who live there and tourists. One of my favorite places to paint was this area on the path back from the beautiful little town of Lehon. On my left are garden plots. The farmer/gardener shown here was arriving this day and spoke to me for the first time. I don't speak French, but we had fun pointing at my painting and pointing to his garden. We laughed together. His garden was very organized and, clearly, I made the colors unique. I think he approved of my painting. Another time I painted his garden, in which he displayed scarecrows made from recycled materials.
