| APRIL
1, 2011 – |
Signs of Spring in the yard. I can see daffodill leaves and a few crocus – in between the snowflakes that are falling! Last year, on April 4, I was painting daffodils blooming in my yard. |
| APRIL 16, 2011 – | Fast trip to Maine for the Easter weekend. Thought I'd have a couple of hours to paint at the lake, but it rained, then rain and snow. Still too cold to spend the night at the lake, and bits of snow in the woods. Where Cobbossee Road crossed at the south end of the lake, construction. Hope they'll be done soon. It's a great place to paint! |
| MAY 1, 2011 – | Lovely weekend in Boston. Prior to attending a family wedding, took a few hours to walk the Boston public gardens. The gardens were spectacular with the tulips in bloom and many of the trees flowered. My husband and I felt as though we had dropped into a Monet painting! Good that I had a mini-watercolor kit in my purse! I sat and made three thumbnail color sketches. The surprise bonus was taking in the show of the New England Watercolor Society in Emmanuel Church. Lovely show in a great location! |
| JUNE 18, 19 & 20 | Spectacular outdoor arts festival on the historic town green in New Milford, CT. Participating artists seemed fewer this year. Sales a bit slow.Wished I had brought my easel and painted the show. |
| JULY 04 TO 15 | Nice July 4 with family and friends. Always great to have a picnic. Enjoyed painting the beautiful coast of Maine near Boothbay and Five Islands. The weather was great. Nice turnout of artists and others who joined the paintout in Boothbay. |
| AUGUST 04, 05, 06 | Wonderful family reunion in the area of Bridgton, Maine. Nice to see everyone . . . and all the kids, now grown up, and new babies! |
| AUGUST 08 to 12 | Painted in the tiny little town of Mt. Vernon, Maine. Met some lovely people. Learned about fields of sunflowers. Everyone said I MUST go paint them. So, I did! And the fields were magnificent. The painting was so-so. It was ridiculously hot and humid. I will keep the spot in mind for another year. Made a quick trip to Bowdoin College Museum of Art to see the Edward Hopper exhibit. I recommend taking the time to see this wonderful show. |
| SEPTEMBER 1-11 | Back in CT. Work. Great! Lots of "weather" made for flooding and wetness. Painted at Harrybrook Park and the Pratt Nature Center. Am anxious for the fall colors! |
| SEPTEMBER 19-23 | Painted in the area of Baxter State Park in Maine. This stunning park has lots of opportunities to paint trees and water, water falls, and (maybe) moose! Didn't see any moose this time. Had a great time with some wonderful artists. Took in the Maurice "Jake" Day show at the Baxter headquaters. Gabulous collection of watercolors. |
