"Lupine"

Lupine are among the most beautiful wildflowers on the side of the road in Maine. I've seen lupine in whites, all shades of pinks, reds, and purples. Generally, the tall spikey flowers grow in clusters, but not always. And, they aren't always so tall and so spikey. When I painted this, I was taken with the idea of periwinkle blues and magenta-purples, and painting what wasn't there. Or, sometimes painting what was there. And, then I had to manage the problem of my idea beig bigger than the paper I was painting on. So, the flowers are a bit smaller and a bit more stylized. I learned a lot from doing this, and have continued to paint flowers and other things using this technique.

Prices are quoted for unframed paintings. No framed paintings will be shipped. Shipping fees and tax will be added to price of painting. Connecticut and Maine residents add sales tax. Hand delivery may be arranged within 50 miles of my location.
