Watercolor Paintings by artist Diane Dubreuil

A friend of mine is a superb gardener and often invites me to paint in her garden. This painting just happened. The paper was very wet, and I layed down a wash of color. Then, when the paper dried, I went back in and painted. Her hydrangias were mostly shades of ivory and white, but I took some liberty and played with the color. The butterfly shape was left blank, and my friend collected dead butterflies for me when she found them, for reference when I was ready to paint the butterfly in.
